The Iowa Lottery still doesn’t know who purchased a winning ticket in 2018 from a gas station in Nevada, but the deadline to claim the $1 million prize is only weeks away.
The ticket, purchased at the Casey’s General Store on South B Avenue, was the winner of $1 million in an April 11, 2018, Powerball drawing, according to a news release from the Iowa Lottery.
But almost 365 days later, the winner still hasn’t claimed their prize.
The winning numbers were 16-18-27-55-67, and the Powerball was 18. The Power Play number was 3, according to the Iowa Lottery.
The individual with the winning ticket has until 4 p.m. on April 11 to claim their prize at the Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive.
If they don’t, the prize will join more than $1.4 million in lottery winnings that went unclaimed in Iowa in fiscal year 2018, according to the news release. The unclaimed money is put back into the prize pools for later games and promotions.
Casey’s General Store received a $1,000 dollar bonus for selling the winning ticket even though the ticket has not yet been claimed.
A second winning lottery ticket that’s also gone unclaimed faces a less-impending deadline.
The Powerball ticket purchased on Sept. 1, 2018, at a Fareway in Pleasant Hill has a prize of $500,000 waiting for whoever might claim it. The winner has until Sept. 2, 2019, to put their name to the winnings, according to the Iowa Lottery.
