Mega Millions Results, Numbers for 11/20/18: Did Anyone Win The $139 Million Jackpot Tuesday (Last) Night?
Tuesday night’s Mega Millions jackpot of $139 million (with a cash option of $79 million) was set for 11 p.m. EST. Those who took a chance and played the game Tuesday night waited to see if their numbers would be chosen so they could claim the jackpot. So did anyone win the Mega Millions prize?
The winning numbers announced Tuesday night were 10-16-31-42-66-10, Mega Ball 10 and Megaplier 3X, according to the Mega Millions website. There were no winners for Tuesday night’s jackpot, which means the next drawing on Friday will be worth $155 million with a cash option of $89 million, according to the official site.
Mega Millions drawings are held twice a week on Tuesday and Friday evenings at 11 p.m. EST. The popular lottery game is played in 44 states across the U.S., including the Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia. Five numbers are selected from a set of balls numbered one through 70 printed on them. The sixth and final ball is chosen from numbers ranging from one through 25, according to the Mega Millions website.
If there is a winner and no one claims the prize, each state that participated in the lottery will receive its money back, the Mega Millions website states. Every state that plays the game uses its money differently, and the website suggests players that are wondering about an unclaimed jackpot should contact their local lottery.
One of the latest winners to win a Mega Millions prize was a 73-year-old man from Milan, Illinois. Bob Hollenback, matched all five white balls in the October 23 drawing and won a $1 million prize. Hollenback told lottery officials in Clive, Illinois, that he had already purchased a lottery ticket that night, but decided to buy another at Hy-Vee Gas, 3850 Elmore Ave, Davenport, Illinois.
“I realized when I went into the gas station, I already had another lottery (ticket) for the same night,” Hollenback said, according to a press release. “Something just told me, go ahead and buy [another]. It ended up being the winner – at least my winner,” he added.
Hollenback and his wife, Jeanne, told lottery officials that they will take a trip somewhere, buy some property, and share the rest of their winnings with their family, according to the November 8 press release.
As of Tuesday night, the Mega Millions jackpot of $1.5 billion still remains unclaimed. The winning ticket was sold in South Carolina during the October 23 drawing, but no one has come forward to claim the prize, WLTX previously reported. The winning ticket was sold at a KC Mart in Simpsonville, S.C., according to the news station.
The winner has until April 21 to come forward and claim the jackpot, WLTX reported. The numbers selected during the October 23 drawing were 5, 28, 62, 65, 70 and Mega Ball 5.Tuesday night’s Mega Millions drawing was worth $139 million. ]]>
