HOW TO PLAY MEGA MILLIONS

Pick Your Number of Plays

Each playslip has five Play Areas (A–E) with boxes numbered 1–70 in the upper white Play Area and 1–25 in the lower shaded Play Area. You can play a single set of numbers (A) or up to five sets (A–E), with each play costing $2.00.

Pick Your Numbers

Choose any five numbers 1–70 and one MEGA BALL number 1–25 in each Play Area, or mark the Quick Pick (QP) box on your playslip to let the computer choose for you.

Play Multiple Drawings

Mark the appropriate Multi-Draw box to play your chosen numbers for up to 10 consecutive drawings (including the current drawing).

Add Megaplier

For an additional $1.00 per play, add Megaplier to your playslip. See below for details on how you could multiply your winnings by adding this feature.

Buy Your Ticket

Check your playslip carefully to make sure you have correctly marked each selection before presenting it to a Tennessee Lottery retailer. MEGA MILLIONS tickets cannot be canceled!

Check Your Winnings

There are many ways to find out if your ticket is a winner. The quickest and easiest way is to scan your ticket or check the winning numbers using the TN Lottery App.

Prize Chart*

Overall odds of winning a prize are 1 : 24.

*All non-jackpot prizes and Megaplier prizes, including the Match 5 of 5 prize, may be reduced if claims exceed available prize fun
** The Jackpot Prize will be divided equally among multiple winning plays and will be paid over 30 payments, with each annual payment increasing by 5% each payment.

How Megaplier Works

Before POWERBALL numbers are drawn, a Power Play number (2, 3, 4, 5 or 10) is randomly selected. The 10 multiplier is only available for selection when the advertised annuity jackpot is $150 million or less. If you win any non-jackpot prize (except 5 of 5), your regular prize amount will be multiplied by the Power Play number drawn. If you’ve added Power Play to your ticket and match all five white balls, you win $2 million instantly!

Adding Power Play to your ticket is an additional $1.00 per play, totaling $3.00 per play. Example: If you fill in all five Play Areas (A–E) on the playslip, select Power Play and choose three under Multi-Draw, your cost would be 5 (Play Areas) x $3.00 (plays with Power Play) x 3 (number of draws) = $45.00.

The Mega Millions annuity jackpot is awarded according to an increasing rate schedule, which increases the amount of the annuity payment every year. The table below shows the payout schedule for a jackpot of $229,000,000 would be for a resident of Tennessee, including taxes withheld.

Please note, the amounts shown are very close approximations to the amount a jackpot annuity winner would receive from the lottery every year. They are not intended to specify the final tax burden, which may vary depending on how the winner chooses to invest or dispense their prize money. (For example, if the winner gave all their fortune to charity, they may actually end up getting money back that was initially withheld, whereas someone who buys a new mansion and a fleet of new cars would probably end up owing more taxes than shown.)
